Maxam battery powered portable fan [pc]
This are decorative items
This is manufactured in China
I like that this fan runs with batteries however, I was misled by the photo. In the photo you can plainly see a jack for an adapter so i thought the fan came with an adapter to plug it in as well as being able to use batteries. However, I was mistaken and no adapter was included. I guess I should have known if it wasn't listed that it wasn't included. Now I am stuck with a fan that only uses batteries unless I want to go out and find the appropriate sized adapter for it OR unless I want to ship it back and pay a 15% restocking fee.. So, in my attempt to save my family some money and purchase a smaller fan, it has cost me more money. My daughter uses a fan at every nap and overnight so I will NOT be using a solely battery operated fan (can you imagine how much $ I'd spend on batteries... omg!). The fan itself is ok but just not what I was looking for.Handy, quiet but fragile plastic fan will deliver a cool breeze to basically a single user. Although it runs in slow or fast speeds from four D cells, you could conceivably run it in slow mode with only two D cells. The best choice is to add a negative-center-polarity AC adapter that pumps out 4.8 to 6 volts and has 2-5 amps current available (although draw is less in actual use). The fragility comes from the "finger-protector" ribs molded into the front and rear panels that sandwich the motor-fanblades assembly. If you apply to much, or accidental sudden, pressure against the ribs, they can be easily broken. Then you could bang your fingers or nose into the plastic fan blades, which turn at a fast enough RPM as to seem invisible. That will hurt but not cut. The fan will continue to function even if most of the ribs are broken off. However there are three critical ribs on the back that hold the wiring and keep the motor anchored. If you bust through those, then it's time to buy some 5000-pound epoxy for plastic, or order another Maxam. This newer version has a much better speed controller than similar model had years ago; but this current model has the poles reversed on the AUX DC INPUT jack, since the manufacturer in China now put the negative in the center position. I bought several, all work great. It was great while it lasted without any troubles. It is still running though after 2 months of use from the time we bought it in January.BUT after those 2 months, there is scraping or loose metal sound coming from the fan.I tried to dissemble as far as I could but found no loose items.I believe the problem is in the motor itself. It eats battery slower than I have expected though.FYI: This power supply is NOT compatible with the fan. people laugh at me w/my little black fans, but i'm the one who is cool and comfortable. in the past i was an admin.assist. and even now at home at my computer desk, you just can't have a full size fan blowing (sometimes even the ceiling fan is too much) with all the papers around. these fans are perfect, don't take up much space, you can have one close to you w/out blowing everything around and it folds up to be put away when not in use. i chose this one because it took four batteries, which makes it a little more powerful and lasts longer than the two battery fans. these little fans are getting more difficult to find, i used to see them in the stores, but no more.We bought this fan to help circulate the warm air in a free-standing outdoor sauna; the floor can stay pretty cool without it. The fan works well and seems well-made. Any criticism I have of our use of it is a function of the size of the sauna, not the fan.The fan works great, but it could have slightly larger blades for more air flow. It also is a bit noisy on the high speed. It easily fits on my desk top which is what I needed. The fan I ad before worked good and lasted a longtime so when I bought this one, the first time I used it it met my expectations and I bought another one.great little fan, fits perfectly on my register (cashier) would give 5 star if it didn't fall down on high but LOVE it for those HOT FLASHES!!!Maxam Battery Powered Portable Fan: A Cheating ProductI was looking for a small battery operated fan for personal use and I ordered this one. This fan is made of cheap materials and the leaf came out with a big sound in the first operation itself.! I opened the frame and tried to correct it, but it could be fixed by some skilled person only. Cart2india were cheating their customers by telling that they are importing the item from USA. This is actually a Chinese made item (though they have mentioned that the technologies or so...are from USA) and substandard plastic crap. Made in china doesn't mean cheap, but this item made me unhappy.! From mobile batteries to Kinder joy for kids we use Chinese made items which possess some sort of quality. This is my first one-star review (Big Negative, for misleading information) for Amazon and Cart2india.! Please check the photographs attached.Does not have a Battery or Power Supply Adapter included, fan speed is okDid not work and was not exchanged by amazon
