The Patton 18" high velocity fan is a wonderful product, and we are so happy we bought it. It is extremely powerful, and just emits the standard, white noise purr of a fan. It is sturdy and strong. Be prepared for a real wind storm when it is on the highest setting (it has 3 speeds). This is not a cheap, plastic "toy" of a fan, it is the real deal. Lasko also makes a metal fan similar to this model (I believe the Lasko fan is 20" in size), but, the advantage Patton has over any Lasko fan is that the circuit breaker in the plug in the Patton fan is completely replaceable if it is ever "blown" for some electrical reason. Not so, with Lasko fans.None of their fans have removable circuit breakers in the plugs, so if a breaker fails, well, I guess you throw away the Lasko fan? Seriously, at the very least, you would have to take it in to be repaired and to have the cord replaced and that could get expensive! Does it sound like I have a problem with Lasko fans? You bet.I purchased this Patton fan to replace the Lasko #3723 20-Inch Premium Box Fan 3-SPEED I previously purchased from Amazon. The Lasko fan has cheap and flimsy plastic blades, no where near the power of this Patton fan, and, after just 3 days of use, started to emit this terrible clicking noise when it was running. The Lasko fan was promptly returned, and I ordered this Patton model to replace it. I have never looked back. This fan, for only a few dollars more, is twice the fan the Lasko model was. If you need an indoor fan (or even one for the patio in dry weather or the garage), definitely go with this Patton 18" fan. You will be glad you did!
