I bought this to attach to the back of my AC1900 router and run 24/7. It does the job. It cooled the CPU temp of my router by 68F; however, the fan is LOUD. The router sits on the bottom floor of my house and I can hear the fan hum upstairs when I have my TV off. I'm not sure how long it will last since I have it running all the time but it is very cheap to replace.I like how this fan has a detachable USB cable, not like most which have it stuck to the fan. The fan also folds away to smaller size. Best laptop/netbook cooling fan I've seen. The only thing that would make it better is to have a cover/case to house the fan for storage, since the blades are more exposed than other cooling fan designs, although maybe one could salvage the packaging for that. After running it a couple of months, one of the fans is starting to grind. I guess for the price, it's okay as a disposable temporary solution.Update: I attempted to warranty the fan after it started grinding. I contacted the company listed on the back as being the Manufacturer, Digital Gadgets LLC and was told they don't produce these any longer and haven't for a couple of years. So either the stock that is being sold is left over product or someone is making knock off copies.Works perfectly to keep my Tablo cool. I just plugged it into the back of the Tablo and set it on top of the nearly closed up fan. In addition, I keep the Table hard drive near enough to keep it cool, too. I't been working for a month now, and it much quieter than the cheaper one I purchased first, which only lasted 3 months before it quit altogetherDefinitely helps keep the heat down. This should extend battery life in the long run as the heat shortens the life considerably.Have more than one of these. Works greatI used this for about 9 months under my AP/Router. It moves air, but its pretty loud doing it. Eventually, I decided it wasn't worth the noise and its sitting in a closet now.I've been worried about the amount of heat put out by my laptop, so at a local discount store I saw a few different fans: one from iHome, a more generic one, and this little baby. This was less than half the cost of the other fans, and I liked the compactness, so I gave it a try. A few days later I'm very happy with it.The four legs fold in to the center for portability, then fold out independently to fit several sizes. I have a large HP laptop so I open it all the way out. Taller parts go in the back for a nice working tilt, plus it gives extra airflow. I think all of these fans work with a USB port, and this is fine. The fan is also safe. While moving it (see cons below) I've accidentally put my finger on the inner edge. Beyond the sound like a card in bicycle spokes, it didn't hurt me or seem to hurt the fan.Pros:- Works as it should- Less plastic, less cost- Portable, versatileCons:- Legs don't lock when open, so if repositioning the computer, I can't just slide it; I have to pick up the computer, move the fan supports, the put down the computer. Mild inconvenience, but docked a star for it.- It's a fan, so there's a hum, but less than the noise level of my computer's own fans. Mild inconvenience.- The box discount store had it for half of this price, so shop around.
