I had my grandson install this ceiling fan. It only had 2 speeds going the wrong direction. I had an electrician come look at the fan since it was pass the 30 day return policy. He said it had a bad motor. I called Amazon and they said pretty much tuff! It’s pass the 30 days!?. I have bought almost everything from Amazon because of the guarantee but NOT any more! Very disappointed in Amazon!Works great and looks great. Installed myself. Took about 45 min to take the old one down and put this one up.When our old Hampton Bay (big-box store house-brand) fan died a year ago, I was not looking forward to replacing it. While we have a home warranty, the deductible is about $125, so paying less than that for a new fan v.s. a repaired/reconditioned fan by the home warranty company made more sense.I did what one should always do, pull everything out of the box, spread it out on the floor, account for everything (it was all there), read through all the steps, and organize what goes where, and at what stage.Hunter was very thoughtful in tagging both the instructions and the clear plastic parts bag(s) with unique symbols (squares, triangles, circles, etc.) , so you know what parts to work with at each step. I purposefully went very slowly so I wouldn't have to take things apart and re-install them. It took the better part of the afternoon.Pulling the old fan was a pain by myself, but luckily, - there is a Hampton Bay fan removal how-to video on YouTube, and - there were two unused mounting options (yes, still left in the ceiling) available to me, and when I pulled all the old unneeded stuff, the Hunter fan's mounting instructions really made more sense once I could see all three mounting options (I'm really surprised the old fan stayed up there as long as it did, considering how it was mounted. Eek!)Hunter's design decision for the interconnect from the motor to the ceiling box to use a single connection, instead of individual wires was a good one. It saved me install time and frustration that had existed in prior fans from other companies that didn't do that. The previous fan didn't have a light, but luckily, our house was wired for two separate wall switches for the fan and the fan's light, so a slight bit of tracing with a non-contact power sensor ID'd which switch/wires were which.Once I got it all put together, I turned the power back on, and lo and behold, it worked! (yeah, I wasn't really expecting that it would work the first time... ;-)Whenever our other two Hampton Bay fans give out, I'll replace them with this Hunter fan or a similar one with a down-pole (one is in a high sloped ceiling, so a low-profile wouldn't work there).Hmm...I have another room with no ceiling fan...maybe I'll get another Hunter for in there. :-)I liked the first 2 enough that I bought 3 more. They are very quiet, very low energy usage, and they move a ton of air. My ceilings on the first floor are only 8ft, and I'm tall, but these are as low profile as I could hope for and I feel very comfortable using them. They look, feel, and function like fans I would expect to cost a lot more. Installation on the other hand... that was a pain. Not the fan portion though as much as replacing the light boxes with ones that would support ceiling fans. I would suggest that you make sure the box is level and at exactly the right height because the "casing" that covers the fan components is NOT adjustable. So if your box is to high, you're in trouble, too low and you'll have a big ugly gap. I think they could have used slots instead of just 4 holes so you could adjust the height a little bit to make up for uneven ceilings and things like that. But all in all, after all the swearing during install as I took it back down and adjusted the first box, I really couldn't be happier with the outcome. And at least 2 spots in my house have been far more comfortable so far!I like the fact it's all white going up against a ceiling. We put it in the kitchen to move the air around while doing summer cooking. It's extremely quiet. Looks good. The light is bright enough so that I don't have to use all the other lighting in the kitchen.Great value for the money. My husband had previously bought a hunter fan from a box store and paid twice the money for quality a little less in my estimation.Install wasn't difficult as he's an electrician. But he did have a slight difficulty with one screw lining up and it almost stripped. But is all up and running and I couldn't be happier. Glad I read alot of reviews on a lot of fans.Great fan. Installed as a flush-mount. No vibration or noise generated. I had a clicking sound a few weeks after installation, but this was because I over tightened the globe screws. Once I removed and reinstalled the globe and tightened appropriately, no more sound.Moves air very well in the whole room. I also installed the matching remote control (Hunter) and this adds the ability to dim the light as well as adjust the fan speed without needing to manipulate the pull cord on the fan itself. This can be installed to any ceiling as long as you have the ability to find the joist. In my installed room, there was no pre-existing mount or wiring. I did have one outlet that was operated by a wall switch. I purchased a long lamp cord and a stick on type wire protector to guide this wire up the surface of the wall and across the ceiling. I drilled a small hole in the shroud to allow for the wire to pass and protected this hole with a small grommet. Wired up and operating in less than two hours. For anyone installing into an existing setup, maybe an hour. The biggest time consumer was putting the blades together and securing them to the motor housing. No part of the installation was difficult.Nice fan. Has 3 speeds for fan rotation, controlled by a pull chain on the side. There is a 2nd pull chain to control the light. There is also a wiring diagram for setting it up to be controlled by a wall switch.Learn from my mistakes - the utility box that you hang the fan from must be rated to accept the weight of the fan. A typical utility box IS NOT rated for that weight! There are retrofit kits that you can get (I used an expansion bar that you could expand to span the rafters and give a nice solid support). Installation was way more of a pain than I thought it would be, but that is NOT a reflection on this unit. It is a more general issue of ceiling fan installations. Assembly and installation of the unit itself was straightforward once I had the appropriate utility box in place.I gave this unit 4 out of 5, as it is not as low a profile as it could have been. They could easily have shave 2" off of it by having the light bulb install sideways, rather than having it install straight up and down. The motor housing is also quite "beefy". For a fan that only runs a couple hundred RPM, I don't understand why the motor + housing is as large as it is.First off, 1 important caveat … BEWARE OF PRICE FLUCTUATIONS when purchasing from Amazon!!! Literally, a week to the day after I ordered this, the price skyrocket from $120ish to $236.08. I am SO happy that I ordered when I did so as not to get ripped off!I am totally pleased with this item … SO quiet, looks great and circulates the air to do the trick in my living room of approximately 20' X 20' {maybe slightly larger, no more than 24' X 24'}. The electrician installed it with ease yesterday, all except the part for the remote control that I bought separately. That gave him some difficulty and required at least 10 minutes until he managed to finagle it into the space that was a very tight fit.If you're looking to buy the remote that's compatible with this unit {$34 as of early August, 2019}, the link for it is in the question/answer section.Excellent purchase "IF" the price is reduced again.Great fan! Replaced older, noisy fan in the bedroom so can leave on all night. On low and medium, can't hear a thing - S-I-L-E-N-T! On high, there is a faint noise (but it's from the massive volume of air this thing moves on high speed!, not the fan). Zero hum. Would highly recommend this fan for bedrooms or anywhere else quiet air circulation is desired. Only downside is don't particularly like the light fixture, but detracts very minimally from overall satisfaction, so 5/5!Very hard to install and now there’s always a loud clicking sound. The faster it goes the worse it gets. Don’t have the energy to take it down but if someone would show up here with s replacement and reinstall it, I’d be your new spokes person because other then that it’s a beautiful fan.Straightforward installation with well laid out instructions. Whistler quiet motor is exactly what it states. Only thing you hear is the air moving when you have it at 3 or 2. Great fan.
